“You are very powerful, provided you know how powerful you are.” – Yogi Bhajan
I’m going to keep rolling with the “self-love affair” theme this week, because I think it deserves some attention. In general, I’m a pretty positive person. I thrive in the company of energetic, confident, passionate people who inspire me to live big and smile big (I get a free pass on the grammar on that one, OK?).
But this week, I started wondering if I was that person for myself. And so I decided to really pay attention to the conversations playing out in my head throughout the day. The results? Less than desirable. I couldn’t believe how many times I thought, “I can’t.” Such an insidious little thought. Deadly.
This awareness was a wake-up call. It doesn’t matter how much you cheer on the people in your life – if you can’t pump yourself up once in a while and roll with confidence, the “can’ts” will start stifling you. And it will happen slowly, because most of the time, at least in my case, the thought comes and goes so quickly you don’t even know it was there. Idea – I can’t – OK, whatever – what should I make for dinner?
I challenge you to listen to your inner monologue for a few hours this week. Do you talk to yourself like you would a friend? If not, maybe it’s time for a little self-love, baby.

Hard not to smile with this guy around…
You are so right in what you say. I view myself as a pretty confident person, but sometimes find I don’t challange the boundaries of my comfort zone enough. Good thought provoking stuff

Haha yeah, his cuteness can be very distracting when I’m trying to work! 🙂
