A Little Kick in the Pants

“‘Hey, everyone else is jumping off the bridge. Why aren’t you?'” – Chris Guillebeau

When I started freelancing, I spent a lot of time reading various blogs for inspiration. I felt lost and scattered as I tried to figure out how exactly my non-conventional career should look. As I watched the screening of the documentary I’m Fine, Thanks last week, I found myself wishing I had seen the film years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRMFEe1Ssso

The film’s major theme? There is no should. What do you want your career to look like? More importantly, what do you want your life to look like? Stop trying to keep up with the Joneses, because the Joneses just might be miserable.

This week, I wanted to share my favorite blogs that inspire me on a daily basis:

Chris Guillebeau, author of The Art of Non-Conformity: http://chrisguillebeau.com/3×5/

Tim Ferris, author of The Four-Hour Workweek: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/

Danielle LaPorte, author of The Fire Starter Sessions: http://www.daniellelaporte.com/

Where do you get your inspiration? Send me some of your favorite blogs!

  3. You know Blogging can be hard work in its way because, apart from writing one, you also get to wade through a load of Blogs whose interests and attititudes don’t stire you before you find one which chimes with your own interests or outlook. . Reading the above I’ve got one of those eureeka moments which means I’ve found a Blog I want to stay in touch with. I’m very pleased. You’ve made my afternoon.

    • Thanks very much – you made my week! Blogging can definitely be hard work, but it’s worth it. I love connecting with other writers. 🙂
