Goal Setting

I have a business-savvy friend who gave me some great advice when I first started as a freelance editor. She said that when setting goals, it’s important to ensure that they are specific, attainable (but just out of immediate reach), and time sensitive. I have been setting personal and business goals once a month for the past eight months now, but over the past couple months, many of my goals have been becoming somewhat vague. The result has been a drop in motivation, which has been a big wake-up call!

This month, it’s my goal to set a realistic date that I can quit serving. Originally, my goal was to quit within the next two years, but I’ve realized this is way too long and too vague. If I know that there is a date I need to have my business fully off the ground, I will be motivated to work even harder at building my network and acquiring projects. Goals are always great, but it’s vital that they have focus.

What are some of your goals?

Cheers!
