Freelancing to Freedom

In order to live the freelance lifestyle, one has to be ok with being alone. But as much as I enjoy my solitude and working  independently, it can be quite comforting to talk to other people in the same field. I joined the Editors’ Association of Canada’s email list, and enjoy reading about the issues and experiences other freelance editors are having. It helps to know I’m not alone and that there are other people out there who can help me out when I have questions or concerns. It’s liberating to be your own boss, but it can be scary; it’s always nice to have people to turn to. It’s my goal this month to meet another freelance editor in person and build a relationship outside of emails and computers.

I just finished my goal evaluation for the month. I love looking back on what I’ve completed and reflecting on what needs to improve. This month it’s all about getting out there and meeting people, rather than staying glued to my computer.
